Made with Kishu Binchōtan–infused rayon fiber
Featuring the distinctive soft gradation of chusen, a traditional Japanese dyeing technique, the CHISŌ (Strata) design expresses the layered beauty of the earth’s strata.
The mustard hue with a subtle green undertone brings a refined balance — grounded in nature yet perfectly suited for an urban style.
This wearable tenugui combines the artistry of chusen stencil dyeing with contemporary sensibility.
Created in collaboration with LOCAL FABRIC, using an original textile they developed exclusively for this project.
Delicate fringes add a subtle accent to your outfit, while the absorbent texture makes it both functional and stylish for everyday use.
The fabric is woven thinly on a traditional shuttle loom using slightly textured yarns, giving it a lightweight, airy feel that resists stickiness and moisture.
The rayon threads are infused with Kishu Binchōtan charcoal, known for its odor-absorbing properties, helping you stay fresh and comfortable throughout the day.
Each piece features a unique dye pattern — no two are exactly alike.

Founded by Marukyu Shoten, a dyeing wholesaler established in the Meiji era, TEWSEN is a factory brand launched in 2022.
By preserving the traditional chusen dyeing process and the craftsmanship behind it, TEWSEN blends heritage artistry with modern functionality and playful design — creating new value in Japanese craftsmanship.
